FAQ

How many times a year are state exams held?

There are two exam sessions per year, a summer session and an autumn session, usually in June and November respectively. The exam start date, the same throughout Italy, is established by an Ordinance of the MIUR available on the website: www.mur.gov.it. The calendar of tests following the first is established by the Adjudicating Commission. The State Exams Office prepares its own Notice every year, approximately between March and April, based on what is indicated in the Ordinance, with all the information and deadlines to be respected.

How long does a session take to complete?

It depends on the test schedule set by the Commission and the number of candidates registered, usually within 3 or 4 weeks from the start.

I haven't graduated or finished my internship yet, can I register for the state exam?

I have not yet obtained my degree or completed my internship, can I register for the State exam? You can register, keeping in mind that you will have to obtain the qualification or complete the internship before the exam begins. If you register at our University for the qualifying exam but are graduating from another, you will have to submit to the State exam secretariat, before the start of the tests and in any case within the deadline indicated in the Notice, the self-certification relating to the qualification obtained. If you do not obtain the required qualification or do not complete the internship before the start of the tests, you cannot participate in the exams and no reimbursement of payments made is due.

How do I register and what payments do I need to make?

Follow the instructions found in the notice published each year on the University website in the “State Exams” section, selecting the profession of interest. There will be two payments, one contribution to the University and one to the Revenue Agency.

What is the post-qualification regional tax and how can I find out its amount?

The regional post-qualification tax is a tax that the qualified person must pay, once and for all, to the regional body for the right to study in the region where he/she obtained the degree. For graduates of the Università Mediterranea, the payment details can be found on the State Exams web page “Instructions for issuing professional qualification certificates”.
Each Region regulates the amount of this tax independently; graduates from other universities must inquire with the University that issued the degree on how to pay it. The receipt of payment must be delivered, in order to request the qualification certificate or parchment, to the University where the State Exam was passed.

How can I demonstrate that I have obtained professional qualification?

The achievement of the professional qualification can be demonstrated through:

  • self-certification pursuant to the law, a declaration issued by the interested party himself, in which he certifies, under his own responsibility, the truthfulness of certain information or data. It is a substitute act for an official certificate;
  • certificate of qualification, a document issued by an official body or competent authority formally certifying that a person has passed an examination or obtained the necessary qualification to exercise a specific profession or activity;
  • Qualification parchment, formal document issued by an academic body or an authority to certify the qualification for a specific profession or activity;

How to request a certificate or qualification parchment?

For information on how to request a certificate or professional qualification parchment, see the instructions in the State Exams section.
