Public engagement

The recognition of the value of Public Engagement activities is the most innovative element in the recent institutionalization of Third Mission activities for Universities and consequently of the new profiles of their policies. The concept of a socially responsible University implies that values ​​and growth of the educational system are compatible with the requests expressed by the community, enhancing its assets and resources.

The Università  degli Studi Mediterranea di di​​Reggio Calabria has always based its cultural project on the awareness of the importance of social legitimacy, and of the opening of its value system to a wider audience than the primary one.
The specific themes of the use and valorization of the natural elements of the environment, as well as of the anthropic ones and of the territorial development plans, of technological innovation and environmental sustainability, of legality and ethical aspects of society constitute the fields of the four areas of specific competence of the Mediterranea, which on these themes always keeps an active dialogue with society and with all stakeholders.

Since 2018, the University has been a member of the APEnet Network , the Network of Universities and Research Institutes for Public Engagement.
