Purpose of the processing

The personal data processed during the consultation of the portal are intended to allow navigation and are processed by the Università degli Studi Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria in the execution of its tasks of public interest and connected to the institutional purposes (art. 6, paragraph 1, letter e) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679), for institutional communication activities aimed at providing knowledge and visibility to institutional activities pursuant to Law no. 150/2000. The legal basis for the processing of profiling cookies or other tracking tools is to be found in the consent referred to in art. 6, paragraph 1, letter a) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679. 

Types of data processed

  • Browsing data

 The computer systems and software procedures used to operate this website acquire, during their normal operation, some personal data whose transmission is implicit in the use of Internet communication protocols. Such data are necessary for the use of web services. 

This category of data includes IP addresses or domain names of computers used by users who connect to the site, URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) ​​addresses of requested resources, the time of the request, the method used to submit the request to the server, the size of the file obtained in response, the numerical code indicating the status of the response given by the server (successful, error, etc.) and other parameters relating to the operating system and the user's IT environment. The data is automatically deleted (except in the event of the need to ascertain crimes by the Judicial Authority). 

  • Data provided voluntarily by the user

For the use of online services, which require authentication and registration, personal data provided voluntarily by users are used. 

The optional, explicit and voluntary sending of electronic mail to the addresses indicated on this site entails the subsequent acquisition of the sender's address, necessary to respond to requests, in addition to any other personal data included in the message.

The user is free to provide personal data required in the online service forms. Failure to provide such data may make it impossible to obtain what is requested.

The website of the University of Mediterranean Studies of Reggio Calabria may use analytical cookies useful for measuring visits to the various pages as well as improving the performance and usability of the site itself through the processing of aggregate data in anonymous mode for the creation of statistics. 

The University uses Web Analytics Italia (Matomo) for the University Institutional Portal. The cookies used allow the collection and processing of navigation data anonymously through the Web Analytics Italia (WAI) platform released by the Agency for Digital Italy (AGID). The management of personal data collected by third parties is governed by the relevant information available on the respective websites which are reported to ensure greater transparency: 

 The University processes personal data provided by users through the pages of dedicated Social Media platforms, within the scope of its institutional purposes, exclusively to manage interactions with users (comments, public posts, etc.) and in compliance with current legislation. 


Data recipients

The processing relating to the services of the University portal will be processed exclusively by the University staff and collaborators at the University offices or by companies expressly appointed as data controllers, who carry out their activity within the scope of the purposes set out in the respective contracts and through identified and explicitly appointed personnel. In such circumstances, the data may be processed at the offices of the service providers. 

Treatment methods

Personal data are processed with automated tools for the time strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which they were collected. 

 Specific security measures are observed to prevent data loss, illicit or incorrect use and unauthorized access. 

Rights of interested parties

The interested parties have the right to ask the Data Controller for access to their personal data and to rectify or delete them or to limit the processing that concerns them or to oppose the processing (articles 15 and following of EU Regulation 679/2016).
