The Department

The Department of Law, Economics and Human Sciences of the Università Mediterranea incorporates five courses of study: Law and Primary Education Sciences (five-year courses), Education and Training Sciences, Economic Sciences (three-year courses) and Economics (two-year Master's course).

The fusion between Law and Economics is the peculiarity of the Department, which brings together interdisciplinary paths not only in teaching aimed at students, but also in research and in a specific international PhD in Law and Economics, carried out in collaboration with universities in other countries.

The Department has been awarded by the Ministry of University and Research as a Department of Excellence , according to the evaluation parameters of ANVUR (National Agency for University Evaluation).

The Department, the latest addition to the Mediterranea, is the first in terms of number of students enrolled and aims to provide an adequate response to the needs of the area for professional training in a traditional field, but one that presents many innovations.

The Department is characterized by being a scientific community for legality and development.

A COMMUNITY. The university path is a common path between teachers and students, a communion of interests, a sharing of knowledge and lifestyles, a passion for research combined with in-depth study, a meeting between people in training who intend to improve the society in which they operate.

A SCIENTIFIC community. Law and economics are practical sciences, but still sciences. Students are therefore called to learn a research method, a logic of things that accompanies them in their study and life path, capable of interpreting, with the principles acquired, the realities of social and professional life. A path in which teachers share their research with students, in an ever-innovative teaching.

A SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY FOR LEGALITY. The University has no territorial boundaries, research is always universal. However, the University lives in a territory and is an integral part of it. For this reason, the Department works to improve the conditions of legality of the territory, studying legal and economic problems in order to identify effective means of combating all forms of illegality and especially organized crime.

A SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY FOR LEGALITY AND DEVELOPMENT

Contribute to the economic development of the territory, training professionals in the economic-legal sectors. The activities of the laboratories on self-entrepreneurship and start-ups accompany young people in starting entrepreneurial activities in agreement with companies, on the valorization of environmental, cultural and tourist assets.

Organization

The Department is organized, taking into account the laws in force and the University Statute, in order to respond quickly and efficiently to the needs of the Students and to the profitable research activity of the Professors, Researchers and Doctors.

The Director, assisted by a Departmental Board, represents the Department and is responsible for its management.

The Department Council is the deliberative body with general functions of direction, planning and coordination of the Department's activities.

Each Course of Study has a council and a coordinator who organize and coordinate teaching activities.

The Offices, coordinated by the Administrative Secretary, are structured into departments for management, teaching, research, internationalization and the AQ system, library and laboratory services.
