Library of Law, Economics and Human Sciences Area
The Library of the Area of Law, Economics and Human Sciences “ Rodolfo De Stefano ” is located in the prestigious headquarters of DiGiES in Palazzo Zani, recently renovated.
It offers its users a vast bibliographic heritage in the fields of legal, economic and human sciences, which includes over 50,000 volumes and 200 journal titles.
The Library rooms are equipped with workstations for accessing the University OPAC and electronic resources and are equipped with electrical sockets and Wi-Fi for connecting to the Internet with your own devices.
Inside the Library is the Strait Section, built in 2023 thanks to the funding obtained from the Calabria Region under the POR Calabria FESR-FSE 2014/2020 - AXIS VI - ACTION 6.8.3 - CUP C31B23000100002.

The project
The Strait of Messina, a crossroads of peoples and cultures since ancient times, arouses wonder and curiosity in those who cross it or observe it from its shores. The project to create a thematic section, dedicated to the Strait of Messina, intends to promote the acquisition, deepening and dissemination of knowledge of the history, art, literature, archaeology and popular and religious traditions of the Strait area, as well as the specificities of this area in the sectors of environmental protection, transport infrastructure, navigation discipline and maritime safety.
The Strait Section , inaugurated on October 2, 2023, welcomes scholars who wish to conduct research on the subject and organizes conferences, seminars and meetings aimed at specific categories of users, including secondary school students, university students, students enrolled in postgraduate courses, individual travelers and participants in group trips.
The project partners are: the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria and the Province of Vibo Valentia; the Italian Naval League; the Territorial Clubs of Reggio Calabria and Messina of the Italian Touring Club; the Association of Waste Stones; and the International Writers Center of Calabria - CIS
The rooms
The Strait Section is made up of two rooms: the Navigators' Room and the Strait Room.
The Sala dei Naviganti collects bibliographic material on the straits used for international navigation and in particular the Strait of Messina. The following areas are privileged: history, art, literature, archaeology, popular and religious traditions, protection of the marine and coastal environment, sustainable development, transport infrastructures, navigation discipline and maritime safety.
The Sala dello Stretto hosts conferences, seminars and other scientific and popular events in Italian and English on the above-mentioned topics, offering the public a superb view of the Strait of Messina and Mount Etna. It has a capacity of forty seats.
