Quality
The Departments are the organizational branches of the University for the performance of functions related to scientific research and educational and training activities, third mission and social impact; they ensure the resources necessary for the performance of the training activities of the relevant Degree Courses in quality (teaching and technical-administrative staff, classrooms, laboratories, equipment, etc.). Within the Departments, the main actors, with reference to the QA System, are the Department Directors , the Department Councils , the teaching and administrative secretariats of the Department, the Degree Course Coordinators, the Degree Course Councils, the Degree Course QA Commissions and the Department QA Commissions, the Doctorate Coordinators, the Doctorate Teaching Boards, the Doctorate QA Commissions.
The Department Director exercises the functions provided for by the Statute and represents the Department , takes care of relations with other University bodies, chairs the Board of Directors and ensures the implementation of the relevant resolutions in relation to the AQ. The Department Director shares responsibilities regarding the improvement of Quality in the teaching field with the Coordinators of the related Degree Courses. The Department Director is supported by the Department's AQ Commission in order to guarantee the coordination of AVA activities between his/her Department and the central University bodies.
The Director is responsible for the quality of teaching, research and TM/IS , for the implementation of the SUA-RD – TM/IS or similar documents; for the Annual Review of the Department.
The Department Council ( CdD ) is responsible for the management of the CdS and PhDs; it defines the strategic lines of the Department in terms of Teaching, Research and Third Mission/Social Impact, ensures their implementation and evaluates the results, also through interaction with the other actors of the AQ system; it approves the key documents connected to the AQ of Teaching, Research and Third Mission/Social Impact, in particular, the Departmental Strategic Plan and the Annual Departmental Review Report .
The following functions relating to AQ are attributed to the CdD, among others:
- establish roles and responsibilities within your organization;
- draw up and approve the three-year plan (PS) and carry out the monitoring and review activities specific to the Department's QA system;
- annually approve the training offer as defined in the SUA-CdS;
- evaluate the sustainability of teaching and research carried out by the Department in the recruitment plans for teaching staff and PTA;
- allocate appropriate resources for the Departmental Strategic Plan ;
- approve the Annual Monitoring Sheets (SMA) and the Cyclic Review Reports (RRC) of the individual Degree Courses (or ratify the approvals of the Degree Course Councils) and of the Research Doctorates, taking charge of the improvement actions, proposed by the Degree Course Councils or by the QA Commissions of the Degree Courses, within their own competence;
- take note of the CPDS Annual Reports and take on board the improvement proposals within their remit;
- analyze the critical issues, also through the drafting of the Annual Departmental Review Report , and define the improvement actions to achieve valuable results in teaching, research and the third mission of one's Department, also by implementing the recommendations of the NdV and the CPDS and following the indications of the PQA reported in the relevant Guidelines.
- approve the annual Department Review Report;
- approve the SUA-RD-TM/IS or similar documents.
