Conference: "Punishment and Community in the Reggio Calabria Area: Opportunities and Fragility"

On Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., the DiGiES headquarters in Palazzo Zani, Via dei Bianchi 2, will host a conference entitled "Punishment and Community in the Reggio Calabria Area: Opportunities and Fragility." The conference is organized by the DiGiES Department of the Università degli Studi Mediterranea in collaboration with the District Office for External Penal Enforcement.
All local institutions within the criminal justice system, which in various capacities deal with situations in which the law requires the offender to undertake a non-custodial resocialization program and therefore be returned to the community. The topics covered will include restorative justice, alternative sanctions, juvenile facilities, alternative measures, and release from prison.
Each speaker will address a specific issue, illustrating both the operational challenges and the office's strategies for overcoming them.
A person on probation with social services will also contribute.
The meeting, which has training value for operators, is intended for students and all interested parties.
