Inauguration of the “Dreams and Future” mural
On Friday, September 18, at 6:00 PM, the Università Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria unveils the mural "Dreams and Future."
The work was created on the University's panoramic terrace, a space symbolically open to the city and the Mediterranea.
The mural is the result of a project by the Benedetta è la Vita ETS Foundation, in collaboration with the Abakhi Association.
It was designed and curated by artist Arianna Delfino, who guided all the creative phases.
The young residents of Benedetta's House actively participated in its creation.
Colors, words, and shapes became tools for encounter, expression, and sharing.
The sea depicted in the work is more than just an element of the Reggio Calabria landscape.
It is a space of freedom, hope, and dialogue between people, cultures, and diverse histories.
"Dreams and Future" expresses the desire to look beyond obstacles and imagine new possibilities.
The work demonstrates the value of art as an educational experience and an opportunity for participation.
Abakhi is an association committed to protecting the most vulnerable and promoting social inclusion. Its name, which means "builders" in the Zulu language, fully expresses the spirit that guides its work.
The association works locally through reception, support, and education projects. It supports children, youth, families, and individuals experiencing difficulty or marginalization.
Among its most significant projects is the Casa di Benedetta, an educational community for minors. Here, young people are supported through growth, education, independence, and social inclusion.
The creation of the mural allowed them to leave a tangible mark on a university space—a mark that speaks to the academic community and, at the same time, to the entire city.
The inauguration will be a gathering to learn about the work, its protagonists, and the values that inspired it.
We look forward to seeing you on Friday at 6:00 PM to share a message of freedom, acceptance, dreams, and a future.
