PHD SUMMER SCHOOL - Recognizing | Reconstructing | Narrating Beauty. Art and Architecture in Magna Graecia
The UID, in collaboration with the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria and the Department of Architecture and Design of the Università Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria, is organizing the UID 2026 PhD Summer School.
The Summer School offers participants an educational and research experience exploring the idea of beauty based on measure and proportion, as expressed in the art of the Greek colonies of southern Italy (Magna Graecia). In particular, the archaeological remains of the Temple of Apollo Aleus at Punta Alice (KR) and the related artifacts held at the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria and the Civic Archaeological Museum of Cirò Marina will be studied.
Participants will be divided into five working groups which will deal with the following topics:
- Instrumental survey and communication
- Data processing and return
- Configurative hypotheses and digital anastylosis
- Visualization, dissemination, storytelling
- Inclusive methodologies for representation
The results of the Summer School will be collected in a scientific publication edited by the members of the Coordinating Committee.
