The 14th edition of Professional Day was a huge success: record numbers for the meeting between young people and businesses.
Strong growth and extraordinary success marked the fourteenth edition of Professional Day, held in Lot D of the Campus of the Università Mediterranea in Reggio Calabria. The event has established itself as one of the most important opportunities for bringing together job supply and demand in Southern Italy, building a bridge of content, inspiration, and innovation between the university and the world of work.
The initiative attracted 735 students and graduates to apply for 184 positions sought by 67 interested companies operating locally, nationally, and internationally. Reflecting the versatility and strong desire of young people to find a concrete and fulfilling career path in the complex job market, over six thousand interviews were booked for multiple positions.
The annual event was born from the synergy between the Università Mediterranea Job Placement, "Informa," a special agency of the Chamber of Commerce, and the CISME cooperative as organizer. The shared goal is to foster direct contact between graduates, students, recent graduates, technical professionals, businesses, and local and national organizations. Through individual interviews, the event aims to create jobs, develop talent, and strengthen Reggio Calabria's role as a forward-looking university city. This is fully in line with the spirit of the University: ensuring that every combination represents an opportunity.
Massimo Lauria, Vice-Rector for Research at Università Mediterranea
Mediterranea's Professional Day is a vivid representation of what our University's role should, wants, and can concretely be in a city like Reggio Calabria: a catalyst for interest from the productive ecosystem, a facilitator of connections between stakeholders, and a catalyst for hope for our young people. These are ultimately the tools that, in our view, will enable the region to make that important leap in quality, so greatly desired in a vision that affirms new alliances between the University and its context.
Prof. Mario Versaci, University Delegate for Job Placement
The 14th edition of Professional Day concluded with extraordinary results, demonstrating the growing interest of the manufacturing sector in the human capital developed by the University and, at the same time, the trust young people place in an event that offers concrete professional opportunities. Professional Day stands out from many traditional career guidance initiatives because it focuses on actual selection interviews aimed at recruiting staff. Participating companies not only showcase their production facilities, but actively seek professionals to join their workforces through various contractual options, including permanent employment opportunities, as well as internships, traineeships, apprenticeships, and fixed-term contracts. This makes the event a particularly effective tool for encouraging young people to enter the labor market. The contribution of the Job Placement Department at the Università Mediterranea was crucial to achieving these results. From this perspective, Job Placement takes on an increasingly strategic role, fostering dialogue between the University, businesses, and institutions and contributing to the creation of an ecosystem in which young people's skills can translate into concrete professional opportunities.
Andrea Fuda, President of the Student Council of the Università Mediterranea
"Events like these represent a true celebration for all of us students who, with a sense of sacrifice, are focused on building a fulfilling future. However, achieving a degree isn't meant to be a showcase; a display of a qualification, but rather the foundation for becoming marketable professionals in the workforce. And it's important that "our" Mediterranean region be at the center of the increasingly cutting-edge challenges facing the new generations."
