7th Euro-Mediterranean Conference on Environmental Integration - EMCEI 2025
A scientific event of international importance
From 23 to 25 June 2025, the DICEAM Department of the Università Mediterranea will host the seventh edition of the Euro-Mediterranean Conference for Environmental Integration (EMCEI), an important scientific conference that brings together researchers, academics and professionals from all over the world to address the main environmental challenges of the Mediterranean basin.
Previous editions, hosted in different Mediterranean countries, have recorded an extraordinary participation with thousands of abstracts presented and hundreds of scholars involved, consolidating EMCEI as a reference event for environmental innovation.
Sponsorships and institutional synergies
The event will be organized in collaboration with:
- Department of Agriculture – Università Mediterranea
- Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria
- ISPRA – Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research
- Order of Engineers of Reggio Calabria
- Civil Protection of the Calabria Region
The organizing committee includes several academic and institutional figures, including the Rector Prof. Giuseppe Zimbalatti , the Director of DICEAM Prof. Giuseppe Barbaro (Local Chairman) and the Manager Domenica Catalfamo (Metropolitan City), the General Director of ISPRA Dr. Maria Siclari , and numerous researchers from DICEAM.
Objectives of the conference
- Promote scientific research and technological innovation
- Encourage international cooperation between the scientific communities of the Mediterranean
- Support the ecological transition through multidisciplinary comparison
Main topics
The conference sessions will address key issues for the environmental sustainability of the Mediterranean, including:

DICEAM Special Session
The Director of DICEAM promoted a special session dedicated to the integrated management of the continuum coasts-river basins, highlighting the importance of jointly addressing complex and interconnected natural phenomena (e.g. floods + storm surges, earthquakes + landslides or tsunamis). Advanced approaches to support decisions of territorial authorities with robust and multidisciplinary scientific tools will be discussed.
An opportunity for the territory
The organization of EMCEI 2025 represents for the DICEAM Department and for the entire Mediterranean University a great opportunity for growth and international visibility, as well as a moment of strategic dialogue to start new scientific collaborations with global partners.
