The CoRUC has scheduled the activation of the 11th cycle of specialization courses for the support of students with disabilities
Calabrian universities, in accordance with the provisions of the Ministry of Universities and Research, in conjunction with the Ministry of Education and Merit, have been asked to decide on the educational potential for each level of schooling.
The Regional University Coordination Committee of Calabria met in Catanzaro , convened by its President, Professor Giuseppe Zimbalatti.
Among the items on the agenda was the activation of specialized courses to support students with disabilities in preschool, primary school, and lower and upper secondary school for the 2025-2026 academic year - 11th cycle.
The meeting was attended by the Rectors of the Calabrian universities—Prof. Giovanni Cuda, Gianluigi Greco, Carlo Felice Casula, and Giuseppe Zimbalatti—and student representatives. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Eulalia Micheli, Councilor for Education, Sports, and Youth Policies for the Calabria Region, acting as delegate of the President of the Regional Council of Calabria, the Honorable Roberto Occhiuto, and Dr. Saverio Candelieri, Coordinator of the Technical Directors of the USR for Calabria, acting as delegate of the Director General of the Regional School Office for Calabria, Dr. Loredana Giannicola.
The CoRUC intended to reintroduce the educational potential of previous cycles to the relevant Ministries, despite some restrictive indications from the Ministries themselves. This was done in recognition of the institutional mission of universities, which is focused on providing training, the need to protect surplus staff from the previous year, the value and marketability of the cultural and professional qualifications awarded, and to prevent the depletion of local educational offerings and the misalignment between training and the needs of the regional and national school system.
