The environment, everyone's heritage
On Friday, January 30, 2026, the conference promoted by the Rotary Club Melito Porto Salvo, Area Grecanica, Capo Sud, with the involvement of other Rotary Clubs in the Reggio Calabria area, was held in the Aula Magna of the "Feo di Vito" Faculty of Agriculture. The conference was a reflection on the protection of Calabria's natural heritage.
The President of the organizing Rotary Club, Antonino Pansera, opened the proceedings.
Particularly significant was the speech by the Director of the Department of Agriculture, Professor Marco Poiana, who emphasized the Department's central role as a hub for scientific research, education, and third mission in the fields of agriculture, forestry, land management, and the environment, with an integrated approach that combines training, innovation, and social commitment. He emphasized how the department's activities, through degree programs, laboratory work, collaborations, and projects, contribute concretely to understanding contemporary environmental challenges and developing skills useful for the sustainable development of Calabria and the Mediterranean basin.
The meeting was moderated by Santina Carbonaro, a member of the Rotary Club of Melito Porto Salvo. Ample time was given to dialogue: mayors of the affected areas, presidents of professional associations, and the public had the opportunity to contribute their opinions and proposals, in a participatory discussion essential for developing shared environmental protection strategies.
The debate included contributions from the Honorable Ferdinando Laghi, National Vice President of ISDE and Regional Councilor of Calabria, Dr. Vittorio Lettieri, Mayor of Gricignano di Aversa, and the Honorable Giacomo Crinò, Regional Councilor.
The closing remarks were entrusted to Enrico Paratore, Assistant to the Governor of District 2102. A moment of dialogue, responsibility, and concrete commitment to the future of our territory.
