Higher education and ecological transition: 25 young professionals ready to lead Calabria's sustainable development.

Calabria's future depends on investing in young people's skills and environmental sustainability. With the passing of the final exam on July 13th, the second-level Master's program in "Technical Expert in Environment and Ecological Transition for Agricultural and Forestry Production" was successfully completed. This important training program was sponsored by the Department of Agriculture at the Università Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria and made possible thanks to the valuable contribution of the Calabria Region, as part of the 2014-2020 Cohesion Action Plan.

The project involved 25 young Calabrian graduates who completed an advanced course focused on innovation, sustainability, and the valorization of the region's agricultural and forestry resources. The Master's Program Director, Professor Andrea R. Proto, expressed deep satisfaction with the students' excellent results. Thanks to this initiative, the regional agroforestry system, businesses, and local authorities committed to the ecological transition will now be able to rely on new and qualified professional skills.

The Director of the Department of Agriculture, Professor Marco Poiana, also emphasized the strategic value of the initiative, declaring: “ This Master's program confirms the Department's ability to develop advanced, practical training programs consistent with the needs of the region, offering young Calabrian graduates qualified tools to contribute to the sustainable development of the region .”

This achievement not only recognizes the commitment of the participants, but also consolidates and strengthens the central role of the Università Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria as a driver of innovation. The University confirms its position as an essential point of reference in the training of specialized technical professionals capable of guiding Calabria's productive fabric towards more responsible, modern, and fully sustainable growth models.
