September 21-24: International Conference of the Italian Association of Agricultural Engineering dedicated to Biosystems Engineering for the Green Transition.
The Department of Agriculture is hosting an important showcase to relaunch, from the city of the Strait, the most current and complex global challenges of our time for an increasingly sustainable agriculture that keeps pace with the growing need for food around the world.
The Università Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria will host an important international event. From September 21st to 24th, the Department of Agriculture (Feo di Vito) will host the thirteenth edition of the International Conference of the Italian Association of Agricultural Engineering, dedicated to "Biosystems Engineering for the Green Transition."
An important showcase for relaunching, from the city of the Strait, the most current and complex global challenges of our time in terms of increasingly sustainable agriculture, in step with the growing global need for food. These topics are attracting increasing interest and attention, as evidenced by the broad participation of the scientific community in the event, with over three hundred scholars from both national and international backgrounds participating, confirming the prestige and power of attraction enjoyed by the Italian Association of Agricultural Engineering and the Mediterranean University. The rich program includes over one hundred and ninety oral presentations and one hundred and ten posters, encompassing the entire spectrum of the seven AIIA sections.
During the meeting, there will also be a handover between the Association's current President, Professor Giuseppe Giordano, Professor of Agricultural Hydraulics at the University of Palermo, who taught at our university in the 1980s and 1990s, and Professor Giuseppe Zimbalatti, Rector of the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria, recently elected and who will hold this position for the next four-year period, 2026-2029.
Since its establishment in 1959, the Italian Association of Agricultural Engineering (AIIA) has rigorously pursued its mission, which is based on promoting the progress of agricultural engineering through scrupulous scientific and experimental research in disciplines of public relevance in the fields of agricultural mechanics, rural construction, and agricultural hydraulics, and through synergistic relationships between the academic and professional worlds.
The Italian Association of Agricultural Engineering (AIIA), which today has over 340 Italian and foreign professors and scholars, thanks to its affiliation with the Commission Internationale du Génie Rural (CIGR) and the European Society of Agricultural Engineers (EurAgEng), is also characterized by a significant international nature.
