Tuesday, April 28th at Agraria, a seminar on: "Caring for animals, caring with animals" with Michele Panzera and Salvatore Cacciola
A seminar on the topic "Caring for Animals, Healing with Animals" will be held on Tuesday, April 28, at 4:00 PM in the Agaria Department's Seminar Room (Feo di Vito, Reggio Calabria). Speakers will be two nationally renowned experts: Michele Panzera (Full Professor of Veterinary Ethology and Animal Welfare at the University of Messina; Veterinarian and expert in Animal-Assisted Interventions) and Salvatore Cacciola (Sociologist, President of the Sicilian Social Farms Network - BioAS).
Attention will be focused on the relationship between human and animal well-being: caring for animals, both in productive activities and when seeking their company, helps sustain human life and improve its quality. Furthermore, today, human health depends heavily on the health of the animals around us. Various healthcare approaches place great importance on animal-assisted interventions, especially for the youngest and most vulnerable segments of the population. In this context, social farms assume a specific role, becoming the privileged place where the relationship with animals, appropriately supported by experts, can be developed to its full educational, therapeutic, and rehabilitative potential.
The seminar is part of the series promoted by the Agricultural Library entitled “In the company of animals (saving humans)” (April-October 2026).
Technical note: Participants will be issued a certificate useful for obtaining credits, subject to approval by the relevant educational institutions. The Department of Agriculture has a large , free parking lot and can be reached by city bus line 27.
