Young people take the stage!
ADUIM - Association of Italian University Music Professors (National scientific advisory body for the scientific-disciplinary sectors of "Musicology and History of Music" and "Ethnomusicology", www.aduim.eu ), announces the launch of a new university music initiative that intends to involve students from all Italian universities.
This is the National University Orchestra (UniON), a four-year project aimed at creating a national orchestra composed of university students, for the staging of one or more symphonic-choral concerts each year.
The first performance is scheduled for June 3, 2026 at the Teatro Fraschini in Pavia, directed by Fabio Luisi.
Supported by Banca Intesa San Paolo, the project is conceived and managed by the National University Orchestra Association of the same name, under the artistic direction of Maestro Gianluca Scandola and in collaboration with ADUIM, which provides the members of the project's scientific committee, composed of university professors close to the musical world within universities.
To support the nascent Orchestra, an honorary committee was also established, made up of prominent figures in Italian culture and business, including Salvatore Accardo, Corrado Augias, Alessandro Baricco, Silvia Colasanti, Fedele Confalonieri (president), Marco Fanfani, Daniele Gatti, Stefano Lucchini, Fabio Luisi, Riccardo Muti, Nicola Sani, Giovanni Sollima, and Fabio Vacchi.
Students can join the project by filling out the form
on the website https://www.union-orchestra.it/ , where they can find all the useful information
about the orchestra's activities.
