The Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri, Brigadier General Cesario Totaro, met with the Università Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria in view of his imminent replacement and the assumption of a new and prestigious position.

Rector Giuseppe Zimbalatti expressed his heartfelt thanks to General Totaro for his intense and productive work during his three years leading the Reggio Calabria Provincial Command. His work, characterized by competence, balance, and a profound sense of institutional responsibility, has helped strengthen citizens' perception of security and trust in the presence of the State.

The Rector emphasized, in particular, the Carabinieri's constant and widespread presence throughout the country: not only in the city center, but especially in the suburbs and in the most vulnerable areas, where the need for legality, a listening ear, and institutional support is greatest. This commitment has allowed the State's message to be brought to concrete effect precisely where people are most at risk of feeling alone or forgotten.

Particularly significant, too, has been the closeness that General Totaro has always shown to the University. This collaboration is based on the shared belief that the decisive challenge for the future of the region lies primarily in the fields of culture, education, and the civic development of the younger generations.

The strong bond between the Università Mediterranea and the Carabinieri, further strengthened during General Totaro's tenure, has resulted in numerous concrete initiatives. Among these, the Rector highlighted the second-level Master's program in "One Health," born from an idea of ​​General Totaro himself and developed into a project of high educational and social value, aimed at enhancing the local area and its resources and training young specialists in integrated health, environmental protection, and sustainable development.

General Totaro, therefore, leaves a profound mark and a particularly vivid memory in the academic community and throughout the Reggio Calabria area.
