April 16, Kiwi: A Day Dedicated to the Future of Kiwi Fruit
On Thursday, April 16, at 9:00 a.m., the “FS Nesci” Seminar Room of the Department of Agriculture at the Università Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria will become the beating heart of the regional agricultural debate. A study day will be held entirely dedicated to kiwifruit , a crop that today represents a strategic pillar for the Calabrian region.
The sector is facing crucial challenges: the spread of the kiwifruit epidemic and the impact of climate change are putting production at risk. Therefore, academics, researchers, and industry players will come together to analyze the current state of the art and define shared resilience strategies.
The answer to these challenges lies in technology. The event will present cutting-edge solutions for smarter and more sustainable agriculture:
- Precision sensors and biosensors for plant monitoring.
- Satellite observation systems to better manage resources.
- New perspectives to ensure product quality and profitability.
The initiative, funded by the University of Reggio Calabria (DR n. 428/2025), aims to create a network between research and the manufacturing world, charting a course for a technologically advanced and environmentally friendly future for kiwifruit.
