The seminar "Artificial Intelligence in Law, Economics and Cultural Processes" , promoted by the Department of Law, Economics and Human Sciences (DIGIES) , will be held on Monday 14 April 2026, starting at 9:15 am, in the Quaroni Hall of the Università Mediterranea.

The initiative, organized and coordinated by Professors Giorgio Fontana and Domenico Marino , stems from the need to offer a broad and structured reflection on the transformations that artificial intelligence is bringing about in the legal system, the economic system, and the cultural and social dimensions of the country. The seminar aims to provide an opportunity for scholars from different disciplines to engage in dialogue, in the belief that only an interdisciplinary approach can capture the complexity of the phenomena currently underway.

The proceedings will open with greetings from the Rector, Professor Giuseppe Zimbalatti, and the Director of the DIGIES Department, Professor Massimo Finocchiaro Castro.

The morning session (9:30 am–1:30 pm), dedicated to the topic of "Artificial Intelligence, Business, and New Jobs," coordinated by Professor Domenico Marino , will address the relationship between AI and the world of production from multiple perspectives: from the regulatory framework introduced by Law 132/2025 on the Italian approach to artificial intelligence, with a presentation by Angela Busacca , to applications in the agri-food sector with Giulia Torre , to the use of chatbots in healthcare services and the use of AI in corporate research, topics covered by Sabina De Rosis and Domenico Nicolò . The session will continue with presentations by Salvatore Lopreiato on AI and corporate law, Tiziana Rumi on credit scoring systems, Giorgio Fontana on transformations in labor law, Laura Marchetti on the relationship between workers and algorithmic management, and Alessandro Scelsi on labor substitution in telecommunications. The closing remarks will be delivered by Massimiliano Ferrara , who will present a reflection on interpretable artificial intelligence and mechanism design applied to the prevention of accidents at work.

The afternoon session (2:30–6:30 pm), coordinated by Professor Giorgio Fontana and dedicated to "Administration, Education, and Artificial Justice ," will shift focus to the impact of AI on public institutions and the justice system. Claudio Panzera and Carla Amaddeo will speak on immigration, borders, and AI; Francesco Manganaro will analyze the relationship between artificial intelligence and public administration; Ettore Squillaci will address the topic of criminal liability, while Arturo Capone will focus on criminal judgment and artificial intelligence. This will be followed by reflections by Attilio Gorassini on private law, Amalia Di Landro on the protection of minors in accessing digital services, Rossella Marzullo on juvenile delinquency and new technologies, and Maria Sammarro on education online: risks and opportunities. The session will conclude with a presentation by Daniele Cananzi on the relationship between the human and the post-human.

The seminar represents an important initiative by the DIGIES Department, which confirms its commitment to fostering dialogue between legal, economic, and humanistic disciplines on one of the most relevant and timely issues of our time.
