Operating procedures for carrying out the 2025 State Exam tests - Architecture Area

 EXAM TESTS - Architect Section A

According to Presidential Decree 328/2001,  art. 17, the exam for registration in the "architecture" sector consists of:

1 ) a practical test  concerning the design of a civil construction project or an urban-scale intervention;
2)  a written test  relating to the justification of the structural or settlement sizing of the practical test; 

3)  a second written exam  focusing on the cultural and cognitive issues of architecture;
4)  an oral exam  consisting of a commentary on the project project and an in-depth analysis of the subjects covered in the written exams, as well as aspects of legislation and professional ethics; 

Specifically, the  practical test  and the  first written test  (linked to the practical test) will be carried out jointly according to the schedule, and will have a total duration of  8 hours . 

The duration of the  second written test  will be 6 hours in total  .

The  oral exam  will cover the subjects covered in the written tests, as well as issues pertaining to legislation and professional ethics.

The  practical test , the  first written test  and the  second written test  will be taken, on the days indicated in the calendar, at the Architecture building, Department of Architecture and Design (dAeD) of the  Mediterranea University  of Reggio Calabria.

The  oral exam will be held on the days indicated, at 9:00 am at the Architecture building - Thesis Room, first floor.

To take the tests, each candidate must have a  valid identification document (identity card, driving licence, or passport), preferably the same one used during registration on ESS3, which will be included directly on the test signature lists.

Each test (practical test, first written test, and second written test) will be evaluated by the Commission out of fifty and will be considered passed with a score of at least 30/50 . The candidate will be considered eligible only if they obtain a minimum score of 30/50 in all tests  (pursuant to art. 14 of the Ministerial Decree of 09/09/1957). 

For enrollment in the "Conservation of Architectural and Environmental Heritage" sector:
1) two written tests;
2) one oral exam.

EXAM TESTS - Section B

According to Presidential Decree 328/2001,  art. 17, the exam for registration in the "architecture" sector consists of: 

1)  a practical test  consisting of the graphic development of an existing project or a visual survey, and the graphic design of an architectural detail;
2)  a written test  concerning the economic-quantitative evaluation of the practical test;
3)  a second written test  consisting of an essay or graphic test in the subjects characterizing the training program; 

4)  an oral exam  in the subjects covered by the written exams, and in legislation and professional ethics; 

Specifically, the  practical test  and the  first written test  (linked to the practical test) will be carried out jointly according to a schedule and will have a total duration of  6 hours .

The duration of the  second written test  will be 4 hours in total  .

The  oral exam  will focus on the subjects covered in the written tests, as well as on issues pertaining to legislation and professional ethics.
