Schedule and procedures for the 2025 State Exam for Doctor of Agronomy and Doctor of Forestry, Junior Forestry Agronomist and Agricultural Biotechnologist - second session 2025
Agronomists and Forestry Doctors – Section A
- First written test : November 14, 2025, 9:00 a.m. at the Department of Agriculture Library
- Second written test : December 9, 2025, 9:00 a.m. at the Library of the Department of Agriculture
- Practical test : the day, time and location will be communicated after the second written test has taken place.
- Oral exam: the day, time and location will be communicated after the practical exam has taken place.
Agronomists and Forestry Doctors – Section B
- First written test : November 20, 2025, 9:00 a.m. at the Department of Agriculture Library
- Second written test : December 9, 2025, 9:00 a.m. at the Library of the Department of Agriculture
- Practical test : the day, time and location will be communicated after the second written test has taken place.
- Oral exam: the day, time and location will be communicated after the practical exam has taken place.

The state exam consists of two written tests, a practical test, and an oral test. To obtain the qualification, you must pass each test, as each test is preparatory to the next. The final qualification grade is the sum of the scores for the individual tests.
As per ministerial provisions, the first written test for the second session of the state exams for qualification to practice the professions of Agronomist and Forestry Specialist, Junior Agronomist and Forestry Specialist, and Agricultural Biotechnologist is scheduled for November 14th for Section A and November 20th for Section B ;
The tests will take place in the Library Room of the Agriculture Area;
Candidates, both from Section A and Section B, must present themselves at 8:30 am for the recognition procedure;
The first written test, for both Sections (A and B) will begin at 9:00 am;
The first written test, the second written test and the practical test will have a maximum duration of 8 hours;
The first written test, for both sections (A and B), will cover technologies in the sectors of plant production, animal production, forestry management, agri-food transformation and agricultural biotechnology;
The second written test for both sections (A and B) will cover subjects characterising the degree course and the related educational path;
The practical test will be structured differently for the following sectors: agronomist and forester with an agronomic focus, agronomist and forester with a forestry focus, zoonomist, agricultural biotechnologist;
The written and practical tests will have a maximum duration of 8 hours ;
During the test, the use of non-programmable calculators and the consultation of the AGRICULTURE MANUAL , the AGRONOMIST MANUAL and the FINANCIAL TABLES will be permitted;
The oral exam will have a minimum duration of 30 minutes;
For both Sections A and B, the oral exam, as regulated by Presidential Decree no. 328 of 2001, will concern "general knowledge of the law and professional ethics. Furthermore:
- For the agronomy and forestry sector - agronomy major, the oral exam focuses on knowledge of general agronomy, herbaceous and arboreal crops, their protection from infectious agents and microbial, plant, and animal parasites, livestock production, business economics, rural appraisal and land registry, the main food processing technologies, land sciences, agricultural hydraulics, agricultural mechanization, rural construction, agricultural law, and the main national and European legislation relating to the agri-food sector;
- For the agronomy and forestry sector - forestry major, the oral exam will focus on general and specialized forestry, the protection of forest ecosystems from microbial, animal, and plant parasites, mountain agriculture techniques, agrosilvopastoralism, wild animal husbandry, mountain aquaculture, forest economics and appraisal and dendrometry, wood technology and forestry industries, forestry hydraulic systems, forestry land planning, forestry construction, forestry mechanization and construction sites, the sources of forestry law, and the main laws governing the sector in Italy and the European Union.
- for the zoonomic sector, it focuses on knowledge of general agronomy and forage crops, genetic improvement of livestock, animal feed and nutrition, breeding technologies for all livestock species, feed techniques, inspection of foods of animal origin, livestock hygiene and the main animal diseases, animal reproduction, technologies for processing products of animal origin, certification and traceability of animal products supply chains, livestock mechanization, livestock economics, and the main livestock legislation in Italy and the European Union;
- for the agricultural biotechnology sector it focuses on knowledge of agricultural biochemistry and the physiology of cultivated plants, the main characteristics of information molecules, general agronomy, herbaceous and arboreal crops, general zootechnics, the protection of plants from plant and animal pathogens, the main agro-food transformations, business economics and national and European legislation relating to the agricultural biotechnology sector.”
