Tuesday 5 May 2026 10:00 am: Decisions LAB meets University of Kragujevac's Scientific Team

A day of discussion between the Decisions LAB at DIGIES and a scientific delegation from the University of Kragujevac (Serbia), dedicated to the frontiers of decision sciences, artificial intelligence, and quantitative methods applied to economics and finance.
On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, starting at 10:00 a.m., Room DA3 of the DIGIES Teaching Complex at the Università Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria will host the scientific workshop "Decisions LAB meets the University of Kragujevac's Scientific Team," organized by the Decisions LAB — Laboratory for Decision Sciences, AI, and Quantitative Methods of the Department of Law, Economics, and Human Sciences (DIGIES), in cooperation with a scientific delegation from the University of Kragujevac (Serbia).
The initiative is part of the internationalization of research pursued by the Decisions LAB and aims to consolidate scientific collaboration between the two universities on cutting-edge topics, paving the way for joint research programs, doctoral mobility, and co-tutelle.

Opening remarks:

Institutional welcomes will be delivered, for the Università Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria, by Professor Massimiliano Ferrara, Director of the Decisions LAB, and Professor Carlo Morabito, former Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. Representing the University of Kragujevac, Professor Dejana Zlatanović, Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Full Professor at the Faculty of Economics, and Professor Zoran Kalinić, Full Professor at the Faculty of Economics, will be delivered.
Scientific Contributions
The scientific session will feature Decisions LAB doctoral students with three presentations that reflect the lab's most advanced lines of research:

Valeria Isgrò — Geopolitical Risk in Global Supply Chains: An XAI and Soft Quantum Computing Framework for Decision Making Under Uncertainty
Osamu Takahashi — A Novel Method for Predicting Financial Time Series
Celeste Ciccia — Activation Functions for Optimizing Decision-Making in Neural Networks: Mathematical Analysis and Empirical Validation

Round Table and Joint Perspectives
The proceedings will conclude with an open round table discussion, dedicated to the exchange between the two research groups and the identification of joint initiatives, including bilateral research projects, shared doctoral seminars, and co-authored publications.
