The conference "Nutrition in the Third Millennium: Land, Food, Health" will be held on Wednesday, May 27, starting at 9:30 a.m. The event will take place in the Nesci Seminar Room of the Department of Agriculture at the Università Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria.
The event, organized under the patronage of leading academic institutions and local associations, will offer a moment of reflection on the future of food, sustainability, and human health.
This conference highlights the central role of the Department of Agriculture at the Università Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria as a leading scientific and educational center. Specifically, the initiative highlights the high educational profile of the degree program in Food and Gastronomic Sciences and Technologies , which is at the forefront of training professionals capable of addressing the new global challenges of nutrition, combining environmental sustainability, local development, and health.
The meeting will open with official greetings from Prof. Marco Poiana, Director of the Department of Agriculture at the Università Mediterranea, and Dr. Salvatore Borruto, President of CIA Calabria Sud.
The heart of the conference will feature contributions from experts and university professors through four targeted presentations:
- The Mediterranean Diet: Past and Future – edited by Fabio Galvano , Full Professor of Human Nutrition and Food at the University of Catania.
- Smart, sustainable and good: the food of the future – edited by Amalia RM Piscopo , Associate Professor of Food Science and Technology at the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria.
- The new frontiers of nutrition from a one health perspective – edited by Fabiana Venezia , Doctor of Nutrition Biology.
- The role of the Mediterranean diet in modern nutrition – edited by Leonardo Iacopino , Professor at the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
The debate will be moderated by Professor Matteo Bognanno of the Department of Agriculture at the Mediterranean University.
Following the presentations, there will be a discussion with the audience, followed by the conclusions of the study day.
