Exceptional weather events in the Ionian area: the Order of Engineers and DICEAM stand alongside the affected communities.

The wave of extraordinary weather events that hit numerous municipalities in the Ionian area of the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria has caused serious problems, with widespread damage to public and private property. In this complex situation, the Order of Engineers of the Province of Reggio Calabria and the DICEAM Department of the Università Mediterranea express their full support to the affected communities and to all institutions involved in emergency management operations.

The two organizations, which have always been active in the area, have expressed their willingness to collaborate exclusively upon formal request from the competent authorities , offering technical, professional, and scientific support to the Prefecture and Civil Protection agencies. The goal is to contribute, where necessary, to the assessment and management of critical issues through consolidated specialized expertise.

This commitment is part of the subsidiary role that the Order and DICEAM recognize as an integral part of their institutional mission: supporting the authorities in full compliance with current procedures, specific skills, and organizational models of the Civil Protection Agency. It is also reiterated that no independent initiatives will be undertaken , to ensure proper management of the emergency and consistency with the officially designated structures.

A sign of responsibility and presence, at a time when collaboration between institutions and technical expertise is essential for the safety and recovery of the affected areas.

Attached is the joint statement from the DICEAM Department and the Order of Engineers of the Province of Reggio Calabria.
