The Italian State Police celebrates its anniversary at the Università Mediterranea.

This morning, the Università degli Studi Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria hosted a solemn institutional ceremony marking the 174th anniversary of the founding of the Italian State Police.

An alliance of values between institutions, communities and education

The event, held at the University Atelier, was attended by civil, military, and religious authorities from the city and province, families of those killed in the line of duty, and representatives of the National Association of State Police, in a highly representative and deeply symbolic setting. The ceremony was further enhanced by the presence of Undersecretary of State for the Ministry of the Interior, Wanda Ferro.

After the students of the De Amicis-Bolani Middle School in Reggio Calabria performed the national anthem, the meeting was opened by the new Police Commissioner, Paolo Sirna, who provided a detailed and detailed overview of the activities carried out by the State Police, highlighting the daily role of officers in ensuring public safety and safeguarding citizens' rights. This commitment is rooted in the founding values of legality, proximity, and service, and finds one of its most authentic expressions in the local community.

A particularly significant moment of the ceremony was the awarding of certificates to personnel who distinguished themselves in judicial police and public rescue operations. This recognition not only celebrates operational excellence, but also conveys the profound meaning of a mission carried out with dedication, a sense of duty, and a spirit of sacrifice.

In this context, the opportunity to host such a high-profile institutional celebration reinforces the University's commitment to promoting the values of civic responsibility, social cohesion, and a culture of legality, in full harmony with the actions of the State Police. This commitment is in keeping with the understanding that the Università Mediterranea increasingly aims to be a place of convergence between knowledge, state organizations, and active citizenship, in a model of institutional synergy capable of generating public value and contributing to the creation of a more aware, inclusive, and common-good oriented society.
