Study Day: Collective Water Resource Management for Agriculture in the Mediterranean
Monday, February 23, 2026 - 3:00 PM
A Study Day entitled " Collective management of water resources for agriculture in the Mediterranean environment " will be held at the "FS Nesci" Seminar Hall of the Agriculture Department (Feo di Vito) of the Università Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria.
The effects of climate change and competition with other socioeconomic sectors will reduce the availability of water resources in Mediterranean agriculture. Collective irrigation is essential for increasing the efficiency and sustainability of water use in agriculture and ensuring irrigation services are aligned with production needs.
The study day, organized as part of the PNRR "Tech4you" - Spoke 3 project, will outline the situation of collective irrigation on a global scale; methodologies for monitoring and evaluating collective irrigation systems will be proposed, as well as decision-support tools for water savings for irrigation purposes, with applications in Calabria. Dr. Marco Arcieri, President of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID), will speak.
The initiative is aimed at sector organizations, professionals, and students of Agricultural Science and Technology degree programs.
