The Università Mediterranea extends its free transportation network for its students

The Università Mediteranea is strengthening its position as an increasingly inclusive community, distinguished by the actions and initiatives aimed at equality, accessibility, and solidarity implemented to support its young people. This is the direction taken by the decision to extend the coverage of free public transportation services for university students, who will thus be able to travel on certain urban public transportation lines in the municipality of Reggio Calabria.

The service launched by the University of Reggio Calabria with ATAM provides new mobility benefits for the student community within the metropolitan area and represents a significant improvement.
Initially, the agreement included lines 27 and 28, which ensure coverage of the areas south of the urban area, particularly from the airport to the university buildings of architecture, law/economics, humanities, engineering, and agriculture.

Starting from the 2025-2026 academic year, free bus service will be provided for the northern areas with routes 12-14 (Archi Cep or Gallina - Viale A. Moro - Polo Sanitario Sud), route 102 (Catona Concessa - Viale Calabria - Terminal Botteghelle), and route 103 (Catona Bolano - Central Railway Station - Viale Calabria - Terminal Botteghelle). These lines serve the neighborhoods of Santa Caterina, Pentimele, Archi, Gallico, and Catona.

Finally, also in light of the activation of the Agricultural Company, it will be possible to travel free of charge on the 118 line connecting Armo, Gallina, Arangea and Ravagnese to the city centre.

Satisfaction was expressed by the University's Rector, Professor Giuseppe Zimbalatti, who reiterated " the commitment aimed not only at enhancing and innovating the educational offering but also at strengthening the University of Reggio Calabria's social commitment, promoting, among other things, the removal of economic, social, and individual barriers and enhancing student services, giving centrality to their right to education and their needs. In this context, " Rector Zimbalatti emphasized, " promoting accessibility to university buildings is a priority for this administration . Therefore, this important result is thanks to the commitment of the mobility delegate, Professor Corrado Rindone, achieved by activating all possible institutional channels with the aim of further connecting the University to the metropolitan city, the Strait of Messina area, and the regions of Calabria and Sicily ."
