Universities Revealed get into the thick of things
The National University Day, established by the CRUI (Conference of Rectors of Italian Universities) and the ANCI (Association of Italian Municipalities), is now in full swing. The event will see the Università Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria as its protagonist and will end on March 26th.
Among the highlights of the opening day, which was enriched by a large student turnout, was the inauguration of the exhibition "Sport is Value" by Reggio Emilia maestro Natino Chirico, which will also be open at the Cittadella next week. This exhibition, Rector Giuseppe Zimbalatti introduced, " aims to represent the most authentic value of sport, a source of energy and encouragement for life. That dynamism that captures humanity in its evolution and its commitment to the community, propelling it toward the challenges ahead, with respect for others and the rules.
The 2026 event of Università Svelate is connected to the importance of research, higher education, and the connection with the local community as these fundamental building blocks for building a more participatory, informed, and responsible future together ."
Orientation, culture, sports, art, and well-being are the moments that animate Università Svelate, responding to the spirit of an increasingly inclusive academic community where every student can find themselves protagonists of their own story.
" Two seemingly distant yet very close worlds. In sport ," emphasizes Natino Chirico, " there is all the methodology and conceptuality needed to emerge in life. Without this method, art cannot exist because it needs to be experienced, explored, and studied. And I truly hope that all this can be a stimulus to the young people who come to see the exhibition: an opportunity that excites me—and I am grateful to the rector—because it is born in my homeland and among the young people who are our most authentic resource . I thank Rector Giuseppe Zimbalatti for this wonderful opportunity he has given me to share with the land where I was born and which I carry in my heart, and with the young people, who are our most authentic resource for a future of hope and prospects ."
The day continued with a focus on discussion and active participation, confirming the University of Reggio Calabria as a vital space for growth, not only academically but also personally.
The heart of the debate moved to the Quistelli Aula Magna, where the conference dedicated to student well-being offered important insights into the centrality of the individual in the academic journey.
Meanwhile, energy and team spirit animated the Aula Magna Quaroni with the "OrSIadi," the exciting competition that saw students challenge each other in an atmosphere of healthy rivalry and sharing.
The curriculum was a key focus in all departments, which were transformed into open laboratories for the occasion: through lectures, specialized seminars, and workshops, prospective students were able to experience the quality of the teaching and discover the numerous opportunities available in the degree programs. This comprehensive overview allowed participants to engage directly with professors and tutors, exploring the career prospects of each area of study.
Universities Revealed at the Università Mediterranea will conclude on March 26th at 5 pm in the Quistelli Aula Magna, with a meeting with Ferdinando De Giorgi, coach of the Men's National Volleyball Team, who will present his book "Egoisti di Squadra".
