Specific Educational Objectives of the Course

The Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Sciences and Technologies prepares students for the sustainable management of agricultural systems, providing a broad and comprehensive overview of the characteristics of agro-livestock supply chains. This prepares them for the profession of Junior Agronomist, capable of expressing their management skills by combining production objectives with the protection of environmental resources.

Graduates in Agricultural Sciences and Technologies can leverage their wide-ranging and diverse skills in sectors related to agricultural and livestock production, within trade organizations, producer consortia, cooperatives, plant and animal product marketing companies, and in technical assistance and consultancy services.

Graduates' professional skills also extend to the appraisal and valuation of land, plants, and technical equipment, cadastral, cartographic, and topographical activities, and public administration sectors related to agricultural systems.

Finally, a degree in Agricultural Sciences and Technologies provides access to research at public or private institutions, advanced training and specialization programs, and the role of technical-practical teachers (ITP) in technical and vocational schools.

Specific Educational Objectives of the Course

The degree program aims to provide knowledge and develop professional skills that ensure a comprehensive understanding of food and beverage production activities and their general issues, from production to consumption, to meal preparation and serving.

Graduates perform technical management and control tasks in the production, preservation, and distribution of food products, as well as in the safety and quality aspects of food preparation, preservation, and distribution for communities, and in the management of catering and service companies.

The overall objective of the graduate's professional roles, which also support and complement other roles, is the constant qualitative improvement of food products, ensuring the sustainability and eco-compatibility of industrial activities and incorporating innovations into specific activities.

Forestry and Environmental Sciences (SFA)

Specific Educational Objectives of the Course

The degree program aims to provide knowledge and develop professional skills for monitoring and analyzing the forest environment and ecosystems. Graduates will be able to design elements and collaborate in the design of complex forestry systems and manage soil protection projects using agro-environmental and forestry engineering.

Furthermore, students will be able to evaluate and assess land assets, facilities, technical resources, and forestry products and their transformations. The degree program enables students to develop a multidisciplinary and synergistic approach to the management, protection, and enhancement of these environmental resources, particularly in hilly and mountainous areas and with a growing focus on urban green spaces.

The degree program also provides knowledge on the use of new methodologies and technologies for analyzing and monitoring forestry and environmental systems and tree formations in general.

The general objective of the graduate's professional roles, including in support and integration of other roles, is to use their acquired skills to support the sectors of forestry production and the marketing of related products, agritourism and rural tourism, forestry conservation, land use planning, and forest landscape development.

Furthermore, in support of the new European Policy, based on environmental sustainability, the Junior Forestry Doctor will be able to provide valid and comprehensive consultancy on the planning and management of green infrastructure, urban and peri-urban greenery, including urban forestry.

Specific Educational Objectives of the Course

The Bachelor's Degree in Biotechnology for Sustainability (BS) will provide a broad-based education in the various fields of biology and applied biology, integrating it with a solid foundation in mathematics, physics, chemistry, genetics, computer science, and bioinformatics. This approach is intended
to foster the broad cultural openness of Biotechnology graduates, an essential requirement for successful careers in the evolving technological and biotechnological landscape. The program's curriculum aims to provide graduates with a
foundation of basic knowledge as well as skills related to the scientific disciplines characterizing the Biology and Biotechnology fields. The curriculum also includes the subject "Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence for Biotechnology," based on the methodological foundation of AI based on Neural Networks. Graduates in Biotechnology for Sustainability will be able to express their multiple and diverse skills in the various fields of biotechnology, having developed:

  • adequate basic knowledge of biological systems, from a molecular and cellular perspective;
  • cultural and methodological foundations for understanding biotechnological innovations, with particular reference to all omics and bioinformatics technologies, systems biology, and genome editing applied to the study and use of living organisms;
  • knowledge of regulation, responsibility and bioethics, as well as economics and business management of biotechnological applications.

Career opportunities

Graduates in Biotechnology for Sustainability will be able to carry out technical and operational professional activities, using biological systems and genetic engineering techniques for applications in various production sectors, including agri-food, environmental, chemical, medical, pharmaceutical, and veterinary sectors, where they can perform the following activities:

  • integrated use of biological technologies with the use of living organisms and/or parts thereof to obtain innovative products in various production sectors;
  • biological, analytical control and validation of the aforementioned processes and products;
  • operation and maintenance of biotechnology plants;
  • certification of products that have undergone genetic modification, ensuring their results, purpose, quality, and biosafety, and evaluating their socio-environmental impact;
  • biotechnology research activities in the various production sectors, for the purpose of obtaining goods or services;
  • use of IT and bioinformatics tools for the analysis of data obtained from research and analyses characterising the biotechnologist's activity;
  • the activity of marketing products obtained from research or production activities involving biotechnological processes or methodologies.
