Students with refugee status or other types of international protection are placed in the first bracket for the regional tax and are exempt from the COA, therefore, they only pay the regional tax and the stamp duty at the time of enrolment / enrolment renewal,

Students are subject to the same tuition fees as students with Italian citizenship and income in Italy. They can request a reduction in tuition fees from the maximum amounts based on their family's financial situation by submitting the Ordinary ISEE (Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator) applicable to subsidized benefits for the right to university education for their tax code.

Students with European citizenship residing in Italy are subject to the same social security contributions as students with Italian citizenship and income in Italy; therefore, they must have an Ordinary ISEE ( Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator) applicable to subsidized benefits for the right to university education for their tax code.
Students with European citizenship not residing in Italy or students residing in Italy who are not self-employed must submit an ISEE Parificato (Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator). To obtain an ISEE Parificato , official certificates (translated and legalized) of the income and assets (real/movable property) of the foreign family unit are required.

What to do upon arrival

Within 8 days of arriving in Reggio Calabria , students will complete the “KIT” required to apply for a residence permit.

At the police station they will ask for the tax code.

With the receipt of the kit and the tax code, the student will go to UNIRC.

Residence permit kit

Get the “Residence Permit” kit  from one of the Italian Post Offices (post office, choose PT on the map) and enter all the information plus a revenue stamp (€16.00 fee).

Include in the kit:

  • 1 copy of your passport with all pages;
  • 1 passport photo;
  • Copy of the Acceptance Letter issued by our University, with the stamp and signature of the Embassy certifying the study program to be followed;
  • Copy of visa;
  • Copy of health and accident insurance document, valid for the entire period of the residence permit;
  • Copy of the rental agreement for the accommodation where you will be living in Reggio Calabria for your studies;
  • A document certifying your financial sustainability;
  • Postal payment slip (included in the kit) for paying the residence permit fee of €70.46.

Present the Kit with all the attachments to the Post Office , where you will be identified and will have to pay the related costs of €30.00. You will be given a receipt specifying the date of the appointment at the Police Headquarters;

On the day of presentation at the Police Headquarters, you will need to bring your photographs and be called to undergo photographic procedures and fingerprinting.

In cases where the dossier/kit needs to be integrated with further documentation, you will be informed by the Police Headquarters at the contact details indicated in the kit.

Upon presentation of the KIT, the Post Office will issue a receipt of delivery of the residence permit application , which is equivalent to the receipt of submission of the dossier produced at the Police Headquarters and which also serves as proof of authorized presence in Italy.

The receipt must be attached to the Esse3 registration procedure and subsequently integrated with the residence permit.

The student must register using the Esse3 procedure .

Subsequently, students will be supported in enrolling "conditionally" in the course of study until their previous academic career is recognized and they are enrolled in the year indicated in the agreement.

Students will be required to pay the fees agreed upon in the agreement.

After payments, students are assigned a student ID:
a unique numeric identification code required for all formalities (booking exams, taking exams, etc.).

The student ID number helps protect student privacy because it is used in public spaces (noticeboards and web pages) instead of student data.
An institutional email address is then generated (in the format [email protected] ), which must be used for communicating with the University.
