Firefighters: Universal Civil Service Program 2026

The call for applications for the selection of 65,964 volunteers to be employed in civil service projects to be carried out in Italy and abroad has been published on the website of the Department for Youth Policies and Universal Civil Service.
Among the eligible programs is "BETWEEN HISTORY, SAFETY, AND EMERGENCY: FIREFIGHTERS AT THE SERVICE OF THE COMMUNITY," organized by the Department of Fire, Public Rescue, and Civil Defense. The Firefighters' program offers 239 volunteer positions (61 of which are reserved for Young People with Fewer Opportunities), divided into the following two projects: "Fire and Memory: Pioneers of Safety" and "Beyond the Flames: Civil Protection by the Firefighters."

The 239 young volunteers who choose one of the two projects will have the opportunity to learn and experience firsthand, for an entire year, the many activities of the Fire Brigade.
Furthermore, civil service volunteers who complete the program without demerit will be entitled to a 15% reserve quota in public competitions, including for positions within the Fire Brigade.
All young people between the ages of 18 and 28 who are citizens of Italy, one of the other member states of the European Union, or a non-European Union country, can participate in the Universal Civil Service, provided they are legally resident in Italy.
Applications may be submitted until 2:00 PM on April 8, 2026, through the Department for Youth Policies and Universal Civil Service's (DOL) online application platform, accessible at https://domandaonline.serviziocivile.it . The full call for applications can also be found at the same address.
