Erasmus+ Study Mobility (SMS)
The program is realized through the student completing a period of study at other universities in the European Union (up to 12 months for each cycle), at the end of which the home university recognizes, for the purposes of obtaining the qualification, the educational path completed abroad.
To this end, it signs bilateral agreements with European universities to establish the number of students and teachers involved in the mobility, its duration, and to describe the commitments it assumes regarding the selection, preparation, reception and integration of the people involved in the exchanges, according to the conditions dictated by the Charter.
Call for Erasmus+ Study Mobility Applications for the 2026-2027 Academic Year
A selection process is open to students of the Università degli Studi Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria for the awarding of Erasmus+ study mobility grants funded by the Erasmus+ National Agency/INDIRE under the Erasmus+ Programme.
Students regularly enrolled in the 2025/2026 academic year in a Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, Single-Cycle Master's Degree, First or Second Level University Master's Degree, PhDCourse, or Specialization School (subject to verification of any incompatibilities) at the Università degli Studi Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria may apply for this call.
The mobility can be carried out from 2 to 12 months and in the period between 1 September 2026 and 31 July 2027.
Before completing the application, we recommend reviewing the Erasmus+ bilateral agreements, where students can find a list of locations, broken down by department, where they can spend their study mobility period.
When applying, students must select AT LEAST 5 preferred destinations from those available. Students are also advised to check the university websites to ensure there are no conditions that might preclude them from attending (excessively high language requirements, incompatible course subjects, etc.).
To proceed with the completion of the participation applications, students must access their reserved area: Esse3 , click on the "Outgoing international mobility" item and then the "Mobility notices" item, where the active notices in which they can participate will be visible. To register for the notice, click on the magnifying glass icon, and then on "fill in the form" to proceed with the registration for the notice.
Two mandatory attachments present on the Transparency Portal will be required :
- the application form (Annex A);
- the Learning Agreement completed and signed only by the student for the location indicated as their first choice.
The deadline for submitting online applications is 11:59 PM on January 15, 2026.

Presentation Erasmus+Study 2026-2027.pptx
Studying abroad is a key aspect of Erasmus+. Experience has shown that it has a positive impact on participants' career prospects. It also allows them to improve their language skills, become more autonomous and independent, and immerse themselves in another culture.
Students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral programs can take advantage of these opportunities.
Are you a UniRC student and want to study abroad?
The University of Reggio Calabria offers you the opportunity to do so thanks to the Erasmus+ for Study program.
From your first year of studies, you can spend a period of study in a Program Country or a Partner Country, attending classes and taking exams. Study mobility also allows for research for your thesis, which will be useful for obtaining your degree.
There are two types of Study Mobility:
- Erasmus+ Study Long term ( Student Mobility for Study – SMS) which promotes the carrying out of exams and/or research activities for thesis, lasting a minimum of 2 months and a maximum of 12 months .
- Erasmus+ Studio Short-Term ( Student Mobility for Traineeships – SMP) promotes the completion of exams and/or research activities for thesis, lasting a minimum of 5 days and a maximum of 30 days . This action requires a virtual component that can be carried out before, during, and after through online courses, seminars, introductions, and specifics of the work to be designed/carried out. The virtual component is not mandatory for 3rd cycle students.
Where can you go?
You can view the Erasmus+ Bilateral Agreements, which list the locations where students can spend their study mobility period.
How will your academic work be recognized?
First of all you will have to structure a Learning Agreement for Study , a real "learning contract".
Your proposal must be submitted for approval to the Erasmus Delegate of your department and the Coordinator of your Degree Programme.
You'll then submit your proposal to the host university. Once approved, you'll have defined the training plan you'll follow.
Upon your return, the host university will issue you the Transcript of Records (TOR) . This document will contain your results, which will be sent to the Department for recognition.
