The University of Reggio Calabria, as part of the Erasmus+ program, has promoted the activation of the Erasmus Blended Intensive Program (BIP): ReFACT - International workshop on Industrial Heritage at the Department of Architecture and Design (dAeD).

Goals:

  • Promote interinstitutional collaboration to foster innovation in educational offerings;
  • Promote cultural exchange to equip students with future-oriented skills, broaden participants' global perspectives by enhancing their employability, and uphold high standards of academic excellence;
  • Bringing together the specialized expertise of different faculties and schools of architecture and design to discuss urban regeneration solutions through the eyes of students.

Plan:

The name ReFACT refers to the redevelopment of abandoned industrial areas, such as disused factories. The international workshop aims to teach urban regeneration strategies through architecture and design, promoting sustainable practices for development based on tangible and intangible heritage.

Activities include:

  • Online seminars to present the subjects taught and the objectives of the BIP;
  • A week-long international workshop focused on real-world case studies, including field visits, knowledge transfer on tangible and intangible heritage, and co-design of solutions and development strategies;
  • Online meetings to summarize the findings and finalize the BIP outcomes.utcomes.

Goals:

Creating an innovative relationship between urban spaces and trees. The renewal of urban public spaces requires new approaches, in an era of growing environmental value linked to climate change.


Plan:

After a series of information sessions on the project locations, the BIP aims to explore new possible scenarios for public spaces, in which trees become new monuments and art forms. The city of trees becomes a paradigm to be visualized through the creation of drawings and physical models. Students are asked to imagine and create new urban scenarios related to climate change. outcomes.
