TOLC-E Economic Sciences (class L-33)

Initial Preparation Assessment Tests - Academic Year 2025-2026

For the 2025-26 academic year, students enrolling in the three-year degree course in Economics (class L-33) will have to take a Test to Assess Initial Preparation, even after enrollment.

The Initial Preparation Assessment Test is a simple tool for orientation and evaluating initial skills, and failure to pass the test does not in any way affect enrollment in the degree course.

The Initial Preparation Assessment Test will be administered online from home (TOLC@CASA), managed by the Interuniversity Consortium for Integrated Access Systems (CISIA). This test, specifically for the economics sector, is called TOLC-E. This online administration method allows students to take the test directly from their homes, in a virtual classroom.

CISIA is continuously updating the complete calendar of TOLC@CASA (TOLC-E) test dates for 2025, which you can find here:

https://tolc.cisiaonline.it/calendario.php?tolc=economia

The test dates currently scheduled for the Economics degree course are as follows:

- September 24, 2025, 10:30 a.m.

- September 25, 2025, 10:30 a.m.

- September 26, 2025, 10:30 a.m.

Registration for the TOLC-AV test must be completed by the deadlines set for each available date, according to the information found here:

https://www.cisiaonline.it/area-tematica-tolc-cisia/come-iscriversi-al-tolc/iscriversi-al-tolccasa/

In short, you must first create your own account by registering by filling out an online form with your data: https://tolc.cisiaonline.it/studenti_tolc/user_test_tolc.php

Subsequently, you will be sent your credentials and an activation link to confirm your registration via email (note: you must first click on the activation link to confirm). Once your profile is activated, you will be able to access the TOLC reserved area at https://tolc.cisiaonline.it/studenti_tolc/login_studente_tolc.php

From here, you can register for the TOLC. Once the process is complete, you will receive a registration receipt indicating the test date. A €35.00 fee is required to register for the test, payable via bank transfer or credit card.

Students who intend to use the TOLC@CASA option must ensure they have the necessary devices listed in the "TOLC@CASA Usage Regulations" ( https://www.cisiaonline.it/area-tematica-tolc-cisia/regolamenti/regolamento-tolccasa/ ) and set up the room in which they will take the test as indicated in the document found at the following link:

https://www.cisiaonline.it/_mamawp/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/ [email protected]

Those who register will be required to read and accept these documents during the booking process.

CISIA offers students the opportunity to practice the test through simulations, which also allow them to determine whether their internet connection and computer are suitable for taking the TOLC@CASA. More information on the simulations can be found here ( https://www.cisiaonline.it/area-tematica-tolc-cisia/tolc-esercitazioni-e-simulazioni/ ).

In the TOLC area on the CISIA website

You'll find information on the various steps at https://www.cisiaonline.it/area-tematica-tolc-cisia/home-tolc-generale/ :

TEST PROCEDURE AND TOPICS

The Initial Preparation Evaluation Test consists of a test

https://www.cisiaonline.it/tolc/tolc-e/struttura-della-prova-e-sillabo

consisting of 36 questions divided into 3 sections:

  • logic
  • text comprehension
  • mathematics.

At the end there is a section of 30 questions to test your knowledge of the English language.

For the purposes of passing the test, only the sections relating to logic and mathematics will be taken into consideration, while the sections on reading comprehension and English language will be useful to the student as a form of self-assessment.

Each question has five answers, only one of which is correct. Each correct answer is worth 1 point, while each incorrect answer is deducted from -0.25 points. Questions with no answer or with no answer are awarded 0 points.

The test has a total duration of 100 minutes.

TEST RESULTS AND ITS CONSEQUENCES

Failure to pass the assessment test does not preclude enrollment in the degree program. However, students who do not achieve the minimum score (which will be established at a later date) will be subject to Additional Learning Requirements (OFA), which can be fulfilled by taking a second test. The learning requirements identified by the test are considered fulfilled even if the student has passed one of the Mathematics or Statistics exams by the end of the first academic year. If OFA requirements remain, specific remedial learning activities will be identified to address any identified gaps.

EXEMPTIONS

Students coming from another degree program or university who submit a transfer application and demonstrate having taken and passed an Initial Preparation Assessment Test or Verification Test similar to that required for the Degree Program will be exempted from the test.
