Department of Architecture and Design (dAeD)
The Department of Architecture and Design (dAeD) was born in 2024 from a new configuration and organization of the Department of Architecture and Territory (dArTe), triggered by the deactivation of the Department of Heritage, Architecture and Urban Planning (PAU), the consequent transfer of its educational offerings and of the majority of professors, researchers and PTAB (June 2024), and the renewal of departmental governance with the election of the new Director, Professor Consuelo Nava (July 2024).
The new name "dAeD," approved by the Senate and Board of Directors with Rectoral Decree no. 417/2024 of December 5, 2024, at the request of the Director following the Department Council's resolution of November 6, 2024, enhances the scientific-disciplinary identity of the revamped department and marks a new beginning.
The dAeD promotes, coordinates, and manages basic and applied research (experimental and pre-industrial), training, and technology transfer in the fields of architecture and urban design, urban planning and landscape design, design and restoration, enhancement and management of architectural heritage and design, technology, and innovation.
The dAeD recognizes teaching as one of its core missions, a strategic activity through which it contributes, within the Mediterranean University, to the training of architects and designers. These are the two figures who, working at different scales, in national and international contexts, aim to contribute a high-profile professional, cultural, and ethical value to society.
