Visiting professor and researcher

As part of its institutional activities, the Università Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria aims to support and enhance the internationalization of its teaching by promoting cooperation and research with foreign universities, research institutes, and training institutions. This encourages international exchanges of faculty and researchers and contributes to cultural and scientific development.

Visiting Professor status is awarded to highly qualified professors and researchers from non-Italian universities, research institutions, or higher education institutions who, through the stipulation of international agreements and Erasmus Bilateral Agreements, can carry out research, training, lecture series, modules, and seminars as part of a Degree Program, a PhD Program, or a Specialization School.

The Visiting Professor 's teaching commitment may include participation in exam sessions or being part of a Degree Committee.

The Visiting Professor is required to:

  • to carry out all the teaching and scientific activities included in the agreement program;
  • to comply with the university's internal regulations, including safety rules;
  • produce a final report for the Director of the Department or Doctoral Course.

 

Support Services

During their stay at the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria, the Visiting Professor is guaranteed the following services:

  • assistance and information support for visa issuing procedures;
  • access to the University's IT and library resources.

With Directive 2005/71/EC  of 12 October 2005, the European Community defined the conditions for the admission, for a period exceeding three months, of researchers from third countries to EU Member States to conduct a research project under a "hosting agreement" with a research institute.
The Directive establishes that in order to activate the "hosting agreement," research institutes must be authorized by the Member State, which publishes and periodically updates a list of authorized institutions. The
Directive was adopted in Italy with Legislative Decree no. 17 of 9 January 2008 (Official Journal no. 31 of 6 February 2008).

The Ministerial Decree of 11 April 2008 (Official Journal no. 102 of 2 May 2008) establishes the list of authorised public and private research institutes.


Registration in the list of Authorized Institutions to sign Reception Agreements

The Università Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria has been registered in the list of institutions referred to in the Ministerial Decree of 11 April 2008 since 08/04/2019 with the number 256.

Certificate of Enrollment

Pursuant to current legislation, the University may enter into hosting agreements with third-country nationals of the European Union (Researchers) who are not resident in the Union for the purpose of carrying out research projects.

Registration in the list is valid for five years.

With communication MIUR.AOODGUN.REGITRO UFFICIALE (U).0025116.03-12-2013, the Ministry informed the University that for the purposes of renewing registration, the adoption of a new act is not necessary, but that the registration itself is "tacitly renewed." Specific verification of possession of the requirements for the institutions highlighted in the list with letter A was not deemed necessary.
