Visiting professor and researcher
In the context of its institutional activities, the Università degli Studi Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria aims to support and increase the internationalization of teaching through the promotion of cooperation and research activities with foreign universities and research and training institutes in order to encourage international exchanges of teachers and researchers and to contribute to cultural and scientific development.
The status of Visiting Professor is awarded to highly qualified scientific teachers and researchers from non-Italian universities, research or higher education institutions who, through the stipulation of International Agreements and Erasmus Bilateral Agreements, can carry out research, training, lecture cycles, modules and seminars within a Course of Study, a Research Doctorate Course or a Specialization School.
The Visiting Professor 's teaching commitment may include taking part in exam sessions or being part of a Degree Commission.
The Visiting Professor is required:
- to carry out all the educational and scientific activities included in the agreement program;
- to comply with the university's internal regulations, including safety rules;
- produce a final report for the Director of the Department or Doctoral Course.
Support Services
During the period of stay at the Università degli Studi Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria, the Visiting Professor is guaranteed the following services:
- assistance and information support for visa issuing procedures;
- access to the University's IT and library resources.
Hosting Agreements
With Directive 2005/71/EC of 12 October 2005, the European Community defined the conditions for the admission, for a period exceeding three months, of researchers from third countries in the Member States of the Union, in order to carry out a research project within the framework of a "Hosting Agreement" with a Research Institute.
The Directive establishes that in order to activate the "hosting agreement" the Research Institutes must be authorised by the Member State, which publishes and periodically updates a list of the Institutes that have obtained authorisation.
The Directive was adopted in Italy with Legislative Decree 9 January 2008, no. 17 (GU 6 February 2008, General Series no. 31).
The Ministerial Decree of 11 April 2008 (Official Journal no. 102 of 2 May 2008) establishes the list of authorised public and private research institutes.
Registration in the list of Authorized Institutes to sign Hosting Agreements
The Università degli Studi Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria is registered in the list of Institutes referred to in the Ministerial Decree of 11 April 2008 from 08/04/2019 with the number 256.
In accordance with current legislation, the University may enter into hosting agreements with citizens of third countries from the European Union (Researchers), not resident in the Union, for the purpose of carrying out research projects.
Registration in the list is valid for five years.
With communication MIUR.AOODGUN.REGISTER OFFICIAL (U).0025116.03-12-2013 the Ministry communicated to the University that for the purposes of renewing the registration it is not necessary to adopt a new act, but the same "is tacitly renewed". The specific verification of possession of the requirements for the institutions highlighted in the list with the letter A was not deemed necessary.
