The university campus
The modern university campus is located on the hills overlooking the port of Reggio Calabria. It is conveniently located within the city limits and comprises teaching and administrative facilities, six departments, 60 laboratories, and student services.
The total area of 384,000 m2 includes: four large buildings, ample parking, pedestrian and vehicular traffic, green areas and sports facilities.
Two large buildings are located on Via Dell'Università. The first, in chronological order, is the Architecture building, consisting of the central building housing the classrooms and the assembly hall, the cafeteria/canteen, the multimedia lab, and the library. The four longitudinal buildings (blocks) house the faculty offices and some of the administrative offices. (20,079 m2)
Connected to the longitudinal buildings, the four Towers house the Rectorate, the Hall of the Collegiate Bodies, the General Management and the administrative offices. (4,234 m2)
The other is “Lotto D”, composed of the classrooms of Law, Economics and Human Sciences, some offices of the same Department, the Aula Magna dedicated to “Antonio Quistelli”, the first rector of the Università Mediterranea, with 400 seats and a multifunctional space with a gym of over 350 square meters, with a wide range of machines and equipment (12,000 m2).
The Engineering complex in Feo di Vito is composed of three buildings that extend across a series of terraces, ramps, and stairways due to the steep slope. The buildings house the two Engineering departments, DIIES and DICEAM, classrooms, numerous laboratories, a library, a cafeteria/refectory, and the Aula Magna (Magna Hall) dedicated to the late mayor of the city, Italo Falcomatà. The last building, the Agriculture building, is located on the highest hill of Feo di Vito and houses all the classrooms, offices and laboratories of the Department. (7,723 m2)
