                          TESTS FOR THE EVALUATION OF INITIAL PREPARATION

                                                       ACADEMIC YEAR 2025-2026

                                                           GENERAL INFORMATION

For the 2025-26 academic year, students intending to enroll in the three-year degree programs in  Agricultural Sciences and Technologies  (class L-25),  Forestry and Environmental Sciences  (class L-25), and  Food Sciences and Technologies  (class L-26) will have to take an  Initial Preparation Assessment Test.

The Initial Preparation Evaluation Test is a simple tool for orientation and evaluation of initial skills and,  obviously, enrollment in the degree course is possible even if you do not fully pass the test .

For the 2025/26 academic year, the Department has planned two methods of administering the Initial Preparation Assessment Test:  online from home (TOLC@CASA)  and  paper-based (internal to the Department) .

THE ONLINE INITIAL PREPARATION EVALUATION TEST (TOLC@CASA)

The Department of Agriculture and the University of Reggio Calabria have joined the  TOLC@CASA project  developed by the Interuniversity Consortium for Integrated Access Systems (CISIA), which, specifically for the agricultural sector, is called  TOLC-AV . This online administration method allows students to take the test directly from their homes, in a virtual classroom.

CISIA is continuously updating the complete calendar of dates for taking the TOLC@CASA (TOLC-AV) test for 2025, which you can find  here

https://tolc.cisiaonline.it/calendario.php?tolc=agraria

The dates for the test have already been set by the Department of Agriculture and are as follows:

- September 5, 2025, 10:30 a.m.

- September 19, 2025, 10:30 a.m.

Registration for the TOLC-AV must be completed by the deadlines set for each available date and all the information can be found  here

https://www.cisiaonline.it/area-tematica-tolc-cisia/come-iscriversi-al-tolc/iscriversi-al-tolccasa/ .

In short, you must first create your own account by registering by filling out an  online form  with your data : https://tolc.cisiaonline.it/studenti_tolc/user_test_tolc.php

Subsequently, your credentials and an activation link to confirm your registration will be sent via email (note: you must first click on the activation link to confirm). Once your profile is activated, you will be able to access the  TOLC reserved area : https://tolc.cisiaonline.it/studenti_tolc/login_studente_tolc.php

From here, you can register for the TOLC. Once the process is complete, you will receive a registration receipt indicating the test date. A €30.00 fee is required to register for the test, payable via bank transfer or credit card.

Students who intend to use the TOLC@CASA option must ensure that they have the necessary devices listed in the " TOLC@CASA Usage Regulations " (https://www.cisiaonline.it/area-tematica-tolc-cisia/regolamenti/regolamento-tolccasa/) and that they set up the room in which they will take the test as indicated in the document found at the following  link :

https://www.cisiaonline.it/_mamawp/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/ [email protected]

Those who register will be required to read and accept these documents during the booking process.

CISIA offers students the opportunity to practice the test through simulations, which also allow them to determine whether their internet connection and computer are suitable for taking the TOLC@CASA. More information on simulations can be found  here  (https://www.cisiaonline.it/area-tematica-tolc-cisia/tolc-esercitazioni-e-simulazioni/).

In the TOLC area on the  CISIA website

You'll find information on the various steps at https://www.cisiaonline.it/area-tematica-tolc-cisia/home-tolc-generale/ :

- What is the TOLC;

- How to register for the TOLC;

- TOLC regulations;

- TOLC exercises;

- The day of the TOLC.

To take the test you must upload the TOLC in the reserved area

https://tolc.cisiaonline.it/studenti_tolc/login_studente_tolc.php

 In Booking Management, the identification document must be submitted by 10 am on the day before the TOLC@CASA (by 10 am on Friday if the TOLC is on Monday) and the photo in View/edit personal data.

THE PAPER-BASED INITIAL PREPARATION EVALUATION TEST

The Department of Agriculture has also provided for a paper-based test (internal assessment within the Department) to be held in person at the Department's premises in Feo di Vito (RC). The paper-based test is scheduled for  September 25, 2025. Students must register online from  July 26, 2025, until 12:00 p.m. on September 23, 2025 , by sending the appropriate form, attached below, along with the receipt of payment for the test registration, to the following email address:

[email protected]

Applications to participate in the test sent by post will not be accepted. Students registered for the test must present themselves in the designated classrooms at 8.30 am for the identification procedure, showing a valid identification document and the receipt of the €30.00 bank transfer payment (1). The test will begin at 10.30 am.

A further paper-based assessment test is scheduled for  January 15, 2026. TEST PROCEDURE AND TOPICS

The Initial Preparation Evaluation Test for both modalities (TOLC@CASA and paper-based) consists of a  test

 https://www.cisiaonline.it/area-tematica-tolc-agraria-veterinaria/struttura-della-prova-e-syllabus/

 consisting of  50  multiple-choice questions, divided into six sections:

1.  Biology  ( 8 questions  in  16 minutes )

2.  Chemistry  ( 8 questions  in  16 minutes )

3.  Physics  ( 8 questions  in  16 minutes )

4.  Mathematics  ( 8 questions  in  16 minutes )

5.  Logic  ( 8 questions  in  16 minutes )

6.  Verbal comprehension   (2 passages for a total of  10 questions  in  20 minutes ).

Each question has five answers, only one of which is correct. Each correct answer is worth  point, while each incorrect answer is deducted from  -0.25 points . Questions for which no answer is given or which have been cancelled are awarded  0 points .

The test has a total duration of  100 minutes .

TEST RESULTS AND ITS CONSEQUENCES

Failure to pass the assessment test  does not preclude  enrollment in the degree program. However, students who do not achieve the  minimum score  (which will be established at a later date) will be subject to  Additional Learning Requirements (OFA)  that must be fulfilled during the exam for the corresponding subjects. Regardless of the outcome of this final exam, the student will be able to take the exams for all subjects.

EXEMPTIONS

Students coming from another degree program or university who submit a transfer application and demonstrate having taken and passed an Initial Preparation Assessment Test or Verification Test similar to that required for the Degree Program will be exempted from the test.
