Virtual component attendance period: streaming on the Microsoft Teams platform September 23-24, 2025

Language of instruction:  ENGLISH

CFU/ECTS credits recognized for participation in the Program: 3

Goals:

The BIP aims to create aquatic landscapes within urban structures. The renewal of cities' public spaces requires new scenarios for water conservation and reuse, at a time when the value of water resources is increasingly high due to climate change.

Program Description:

The BIP program includes an intensive workshop, in which participants, working in international teams,
will develop spatial and landscape solutions that meet the ecological, environmental, cultural, and current needs
of the city of Reggio Calabria.
The workshop aims to create projects that embody a vision of a new relationship between water and the
urban landscape through a linear urban park that superimposes various systems such as the water system, road and street systems
, vegetation, and structures.
Students will work on maps, creating hand-drawn sketches, design concepts, and drawings on their
computers.

Goals:

Students participating in the BIP Autumn School in "Digital Transformations and Civil Law" will focus specifically on Artificial Intelligence, Civil Law, and Human Rights. They will discuss whether AI will transform the practice of civil law and whether logic-oriented legal methodology is an activity to which AI can be successfully applied.
Given the enormous amount of data generated by humans and machines, and because AI underpins all computer-learning technologies, students will discuss whether it represents the future of complex decision-making.

Plan:

The students' diverse cultural backgrounds will allow them to examine the topic of Artificial Intelligence from various perspectives, allowing them to experience firsthand any differences and convergences of opinion between the Italian and Polish scientific communities on the topic.
Expected learning outcomes:
- Engage in successful legal research using cost-effective research methods: identify and analyze laws, as well as new legal issues and ambiguities within the law.
- Place legal issues in broader institutional contexts: analyze laws from diverse and global perspectives; discuss the political, social, and economic forces that shape laws; and examine not only the likelihood of legal success of an argument or strategy, but also the moral, economic, social, political, and other factors implicated by the argument or strategy.

Goals:

Participants in the BIP Spring School in "Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights" will focus specifically on topics such as Artificial Intelligence , civil law , and human rights . This will include offline lectures in Reggio Calabria (12 hours long, four at the Università Mediterranea and eight at a seaside residence, designed to foster open and informal dialogue among participants, as meetings outside of an academic setting often offer a more relaxed atmosphere conducive to spontaneous discussion), seminars, and 12-hour online meetings. Students will discuss several issues: Will artificial intelligence transform the practice of civil law? Is logic-oriented methodology a field to which artificial intelligence can be fruitfully applied?
Given the enormous amount of data generated by humans and machines, and because artificial intelligence underpins all computer-learning technologies, students will discuss whether it represents the future of complex decision-making.

Goals:

 1. The first workshop took place on the island of Lipari, at the Archaeological Museum, from May 20 to 24, 2024. The title was "From Museum to Theater: Tools for the Digital Humanities." The partner institutions collaborated on an educational program to create an exhibition presenting contemporary artistic projects inspired by the theatrical masks of ancient Greece. These projects draw on archaeological, performative, historical, and anthropological investigations of classical material culture, explored through the digital humanities for more inclusive cultural engagement.

Plan:

Participants in the second edition will work to further develop and enrich the projects initiated during the first workshop. In this BIP, new methods of digital exploration of masks are studied, questioned, and experimentally developed, resulting in creative artifacts. In the third edition, students will prepare the material for the traveling exhibition and build the exhibition structure in ESAD's self-construction workshops.

The primary objective is to enhance the potential of students and faculty by promoting scientific innovation and the use of advanced technologies, with a specific focus on urban research and resilience. At the heart of the initiative is the integration of the Smart City model, conceived as a holistic approach capable of balancing social needs, economic expansion, and environmental protection in the face of climate change challenges. To ensure lasting impact, the program envisions the establishment of the Trans-European Network SC-TEERN, a structure designed to strengthen cooperation between academia, local authorities, and international stakeholders.

Plan:

By sharing resources, best practices, and global case studies, the project aims to define a common methodological framework that transcends European borders. The ultimate goal is to build inclusive educational environments and strengthen connections between all stakeholders involved in urban planning, making the developed tools applicable and relevant in both developed and developing countries.

 Goals:

The BIP introduces students to the analysis of cultural tourism from an interdisciplinary perspective: economic analysis, marketing and strategic management, and a legal perspective. The program includes interactive lectures and e-learning activities and is structured in two phases: an online preparatory phase and a physical mobility phase at the West University of Timisoara.
